ERESC Interm Alternative Educational Placement

(45 Day Program)

The E.R.E.S.C. Interim Alternative Educational setting, often referred to as  the 45 Day Program, serves middle (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students who violate their public school districts’ disciplinary policies and require a change of setting beyond short term periods of exclusion (i.e.10 day suspensions). The E.R.E.S.C. Interim Alternative Educational Program students are integrated into age/grade appropriate classrooms for the 45 day period so that academic classwork continues without interruption.

Student Support Team meetings are conducted and reports written after ten days in the program and at its completion. The purpose of these meetings are to provide assessment information as well as recommendations for intervention strategies — both instructional and behavioral — that may be effective in students’ successful return to public school classrooms. It is possible that the student may be placed in an appropriate E.R.E.S.C. program for a longer duration if the home district determines that she/he is not ready to return to public school classrooms at the completion of the 45 Day Program.
