Biography

Michael Derrick Steinmetz is a positive, driven, hardworking and self-motivated leader who strives for accounting and operational excellence on a daily basis. Mr. Steinmetz attended Kean University in Union, New Jersey where he obtained a Batchelor of Arts in Public Administration, Masters in Public Administration and a Masters in Educational Leadership with a specialization in School Business Administration. Mr. Steinmetz while a student at Kean University was active in Student Government and was Sophomore and Junior Class President. He is an Alumni of Sigma Beta Tau Fraternity which is a community service fraternity and was found by military veterans.
Mr. Steinmetz worked in higher education administration for 6 years at New Jersey Institute of Technology before making the change to K-12 education administration and working in the school business administration field in 2006. He has a standard certificate as a School Business Administrator, is a registered School Business Official with New Jersey Association of School Business Officials along with a certification as a Qualified Purchasing Agent. Mr. Steinmetz has been trained and certified as a Mentor for other School Business Administrators by New Jersey Association of School Business Officials and actively mentors new school business officials.
Mr. Steinmetz has earned GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting FY2014 from Government Finance Officers Association. He has also earned a New Jersey School Insurance Group award for School Safety.
Mr. Steinmetz manages various business service functions of the EERESC which includes: budget and finance, federal grants management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing/procurement, transportation, facilities, food services, safety and risk management in related areas.
Outside of his professional life, Michael has a family with wife and two children. He enjoys going to all his children’s sports activities and musical performances. He likes to watch baseball and hockey and listen to country music.
