Chapter 193 Services

Overview

For those students who have a Service Plan Chapter 193 provides a litany of services tailored to the needs of the individual students.

These services include:

Child Study Team:

The Child Study Team (CST) provides Evaluation and Determination of Eligibility Services in compliance with the N.J.A.C. Title 6A, Chapter 14 and PRISE (Parental Rights in Special Education).

Evaluation and Determination of Eligibility services include:

The service commences once a referral is processed using 407-1 form
The CST leader contacts the parent to set-up a pre-evaluation/planning meeting
At the meeting the CST team (Psychologist, Social Worker and Learning Disability Teacher Consultant), parent(s) or legal guardian(s), and school personnel analyze the information supplied from the 407-1 form
The meeting determines if an initial evaluation is warranted
When the initial evaluation is warranted, the different CST members evaluate the student and develops an Individual Service Plan

Supplemental Instruction:

ERESC provides Supplemental Instruction (SI) to students with a Service Plan in addition to the primary instruction for the subject (ELA and Math) being taught in the general education classroom. All direct instruction is tethered to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for the different grade levels. The teachers use multiple engaging learning activities that reinforce the skills learned in the lesson.

Students may receive SI within a general education class, “push-in” or “pull-out” resource program in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:26-6
The age span in the pull-out resource program shall not exceed three years in elementary programs and shall not exceed four years in secondary programs
Students are grouped based on the content and grade levels
Students receive instruction twice a week in (35) minute intervals
All direct instruction is based on deficits outlined in the Service Plan

Speech and Language Services:

The Speech-Language Therapist provides articulation, language and fluency skills in compliance with NJAC Title 6A, Chapter 14 and PRISE (Parental Rights in Special Education).
